Amateur makers, creatives and DIY lovers – big news! A sort of Disneyland for the modern crafty crowd is coming to Greenpoint. Brooklyn Craft Company will open its doors in September.
At their new 1,500 square foot space they will offer all sorts of cool classes, from traditional to trendier crafts. Think printmaking, jewelry making, sewing or even mixology. We are crazy excited about this major addition for the maker community! A place where you can learn new things, perfect your skills, and meet other human beings who are so into macramé (who knew!).
And do these people know what they’re talking about, you wonder?
Well, they are the makers of the hugely successful Brooklyn Craft Camp, which had its first edition back in March and has a new event coming up in October. Their founder, Brett Bara, is a lifelong crafter and the author of several books, as well as a TV host and contributor to Design Sponge. The classes will be taught by top designers, authors, and bloggers. So it sounds like you’ll be learning from the very best!
To help with their new launch, BCC is running a fundraising campaign at indiegogo. The rewards are beyond cool – a $50 contribution gets you a $75 class credit. A $100 pledge gets you a whopping $200 class credit. Contributions will help furnish the space and get tools and supplies.
After the success of the first Brooklyn Craft Camp, founder Brett Bara decided to take the leap. “The feedback from Craft Camp was so overwhelming, and the event was so successful, that we knew this was a business that had a lot of potential. There’s no time like the present, so we decided to just jump right in and make it happen! We’ve had amazing support from the crafting community that has really helped as well”.
We can’t wait to see the new space in action. There’s just a few days left to contribute to their indiegogo campaign, so make your contribution or snag your class credit soon!
